COACH'S E-MAIL RESPONSES TO TOM CHANDLER
Top 50 Liberal Arts Colleges

(as rated by U.S. News & World Report -2006- 2007)

1. Williams College (MA)
*    We may have some space to support someone regular decision and trying to figure out who that might be.  Do you have Melissa's video?  I can't seem to find it...it was online right?  Also, have you seen her play?  Any chance you could give me some insight into how you think she plays and what position she might be most effective in college?  Any help/insight is great.  thanks!
    - Women’s Soccer
*   I appreciate you thinking of us and hope that you won't hesitate to send along more student-athletes like Carson. .
     - Football
*   Thanks for the info. I have received her video and she looks like she has good potential to improve. Keep me posted on her. Thanks.
     - Woman's Lacrosse
*   Tom, I need a phone # to chat.
     - Men's Soccer
*   I only watched Dan play for a few minutes-- enough to know that, given his SAT range, I wouldn't use an admissions "slot" for him.  I would guess that he could play at a middle to lower tier Division III school-- like a Vassar, etc.
     - Men's Basketball
*   Again I appreciate your help. Please let me know of others who fit the academic profile.
     - Men's Track
*    I did get to catch Conor play some and thought that he did some really nice things and would like to keep tabs on him. I don’t remember seeing much of Barrett, and we probably are not going to be looking to support a goalie next year, unless academically he would be in the mix here on his own.
    - Men’s Lacrosse
*    I only get ONE on my list, so he would have to be very, very good indeed.
    - M. Tennis

2. Amherst College (MA)
*    I think we are going to take a session of PPA out to San Fran this summer ( Sonoma State). We're going to bring a bunch of top coaches out there.  Do you think we'll be able to attract a couple hundred participants?
    - Men’s Soccer
*   Thanks for getting in touch with me with regard to Maddie and I look forward to maintaining contact with you throughout the recruiting process.
     - Softball
*   So he is someone we are very interested in at this point and would love to see more of.....he has a great stroke and believe would fit what we are looking for in this recruiting class.
     - Men's Basketball
*   You are right him being more of a contributor here then at the Ivies but unfortunately due to the size of the school and its reputation it is actually a bit tougher to get into.
     - Men's Track
*   I hope all is well! I just wanted to update you on Carson. I spoke with him again last night and he indicated that he has sent his application in. We are also trying to have him visit campus...Feel free to call with any questions and thank you again for your help.
     - Football
*    Thanks for the heads up about this weekend.  I hope that you are enjoying the Cape.  Please introduce yourself at some point at Harvard.  I look forward to meeting you and seeing Parker play.
    - Baseball
*    Hi Tom -- From the information you've given me, I'd say that he could be recruited in the NESCAC league with slight improvement.  He is not an A band at Amherst though he's close.  I'm around if you have any other questions.
    - Swimming
*    Hi, I cannot recommend Early Decision to Elizabeth. Her score just are not high enough and she is not someone I can push for at this point. I am sorry as she is a great person and the team loved her. I will contact her later today and let her know.
    - W. Tennis
*    Thanks, Tom.  This is really helpful.  Do you know if Laura has a video?  I just watched Carly’s video.  I had misplaced it, but I found it.  I liked it a lot.  But UVA?  I just looked in my inbox for an email from Maggie, but I can’t find one??  So, I don’t think she’s contacted me.  Is she any good?  Academics?
    - Women’s Soccer
*    Thank you so much for the information on the four players you sent along to Amherst.  We are always looking for great kids and super volleyball players.  Thanks again for sending along names of individuals that might be interested in playing volleyball at Amherst.  I look forward to staying in touch.
    - Women’s Volleyball

3. Swarthmore (PA)
*    Thanks for the info on the 2012s & 13s.  Let me know about any of your 2011s that ED doesn't work out.  I have some spots still available for 2011.
    - Women’s Soccer
*   We'd love to have him if things don't pan out at the Division I level.
     - Men's Basketball
*   thank you for the email, I will contact her immediately.
     - Softball
*    Tom, No our admissions dept. won't allow him to change.  Plus it would be a risky proposition.  Even with him on my priority list it does not guarantee that he'll get in.
    - Baseball
*    I have strong interest in Conor. We committed to a goalie already and I will plan to recruit Daniel later this school year. If Conor has interest please let me know. My assistant and I have called him but have not heard back yet.
    - Men’s Lacrosse
*    Thanks for your e-mail.  We are looking mostly at Forwards and attacking MF type players at this point, as we have a strong, young crew of defenders returning.  We did reasonably well in Fall Early Decision, and now we are waiting on the Winter Early results. It was nice to meet you at the Nomads tournament.  Thanks for introducing yourself.
    - Men’s Soccer

T4. Wellesley College (MA)
*   Thanks for the info on the email issue. You can forward Hillary my email. If she sends me her address and other contact info I'll send her out a Golf Team Questionnaire. I appreciate it.
     - Women's Golf
*    It was great to see you this weekend.  Thanks for including Wellesley on your list of potential colleges for your the girls you are working with.  Please let me know if I can do anything to help in helping your prospects get a better feel for the east coast liberal arts experience.
    - Women’s Soccer

T4. Middlebury College (VT)
*   It is nice to hear from people who understand the academic standards some small colleges (like Middlebury) require for their athletes.
     - Football
*   I can meet with Kevin on Thursday. Please let me know if it will work.
     - Men's Basketball
*   Many thanks for the information on Jonathan. I will get out the relevant information to him. Hope all is well out on the West coast and if you have any more soccer players, Dartmouth can only take so many!!!!
     - Men's Soccer
*   It's becoming more and more that way Tom, most good schools in our sport know who they're supporting by the summer.
     - Men's Lacrosse
*   Thanks for your e-mail.  Please feel free to contact me again should Renna have trouble reaching me or you have any questions yourself.
     - Women's Basketball
*    Tom, Thanks for the heads up on these guys.  I liked Alex most of all of them.  He is close with grades too.  Any help you might give with him would be appreciated. Thanks
    - Baseball
*    Thank you for the info.  I am not going to make it to Reno, and I am looking for a MH, as both of mine will be a senior and junior next year.  I'm very interested in Laura for sure, and if any of the others end up looking more seriously at an academic Div. III program than a Div. I level, then I'd love to be in touch with them.  Any info you have would be great.  Thanks.
    - Women’s Volleyball

T6. Pomona College (CA)
*   Thanks for your email. I am glad we had a chance to talk at the tournament. It is helpful to have somebody working as a go-between that understands the process!
     - Women's Soccer

*   Thank you for providing me with information on Lauren. I really want to improve the level of our softball program!
     - Softball
*   Thanks for the info on these 4 young men. We are always interested in finding out about those guys who are a good fit.
     - Men's Basketball
*   I just sent over an email and will let you know when I get a response. Thanks.
     - Baseball
*   I have explained to Bud that we do not have an early ID process here nor “slots” and therefore should have other options if he doesn’t get offered a spot. That said, I am supporting him at the highest level and feel he would do well here.
     - Men's Soccer

*    Her test scores were amazing - 2340 SAT so she is totally right there.  I know we are in the top few for her.....whatever you can do to make her pick us ;)
    - Women’s Volleyball

T6. Bowdoin College (ME)
*    Tom,  Are you still involved with Richard, if so give me a call.
    -  Men’s Lacrosse
*   Thanks, Tom! I need all the help I can get.
     - Women's Volleyball
*   Tom, thanks very much the information. At this time Goal keeper is not our top need. I will keep him in mind if things don't work out. Thanks again.
     - Men's Soccer
*   Thank you for the email. I would like to see her play. Also if you could have her contact me that would be great.
     - Woman's Lacrosse
*   He's definitely a good athlete for us, but I don't think the academics will work out.
     - Men's Track
*   Please call me at my office. I'd love a chance to chat with you about Carson, Aaron and Kyle as well.
     - Football
*    Thanks for the information.  I will present her academic information to our Athletic Director to see what his thoughts are on her getting in.  Her athletic skills are very exceptional and we would feel fortunate having her as part of the team.  Thanks again for your help....we would love to have more kids from California and other states from the West here at Bowdon.
    - Softball
*    MUCH appreciation for letting me know. Thanks for your help
    - Women’s Tennis
*    I have no support left to offer, I’m sorry.  And, I have to have seen a player before I would ever support them.  Thanks for the information though.
    - Women’s Soccer

8. Carleton College (MN)
*   Thanks for your help with Alex and Andrew.  Please keep me posted on future soccer-scholars in your area and one of these years one of these Cal. kids will take advantage of all we have to offer here at Carleton!
     - Men's Soccer

*   Thanks for the update - I'm glad to hear that Renna is still very interested in us.  We'll continue to provide information and help in any way we can to help make her decision easier.
     - Women's Basketball
*
Thanks again, Tom. I've been in touch with Alex, she's a great kid, and I look forward to seeing her play. I will try to check out the other players as well!
    - Women’s Soccer
*
Thank you for the email and information about some very intelligent volleyball recruits.  I would love to learn more about Laura so I looked up her address and am sending her information about our volleyball program and academics today.  Thanks again and please continue to send me any talented AND smart players!!
     - Women’s Volleyball

T9. Haverford College (PA)
*   Thanks again for the information about Lauren. And keep your eyes open for more like her. I love CA kids!
     - Softball
*   Thanks for the tip, I think that we are early enough to be very attractive to him especially since his first priority is academics. I was wondering if you had any other leads, but for women's basketball.
     - Men's Basketball
*   Yes, let's plan a time when we can talk.  We are interested in the softball player and golfer.
     - Men's Golf

*   Maya, can be a player that helps us recruit better players as we build a solid team around her.  I am available anytime, just let me know.
     - Women's Lacrosse

*   Chris should be able to play D-III baseball somewhere.  I'm not exactly sure where, but he's a D-III player in my opinion.
    - Baseball
*    I was very impressed with all three kids, especially Conor's athleticism.  I think we'll probably recruit all three of them.  Thanks for following up.
    - Men’s Lacrosse
*    I would like to follow this up.  Could you please give me a call or tell me when I can call you?
    - Men’s Soccer
*    It was good speaking with you.  Thank you for emailing Grace.  I hope ultimately Grace finds a school she loves and wants to go to (and if that is Haverford...even better:)  It's an overwhelming process, so she is lucky to have some guidance.
    - Women’s Soccer
*    Thank you, Tom.  I appreciate what you are doing and excited that someone finally "gets it" when it comes to helping out HS girls.
    - Women’s Volleyball

T9. Davidson College (NC)
*   We will definitely follow up with Jon and will be sending him literature this week.
     - Football
*   I appreciate the email.  It was nice to meet you as well.  Mo is an outstanding young man but he does not fit our recruiting needs for this year.  We wish him the best of luck in recruiting process.
     - Baseball
*   Thanks for the information and insights!  Our keeper situation is not resolved actually.
     - Men's Soccer
*
Thanks Tom.  Will mark them down and take a look.  Have had correspondence from/with Maggie.  Do you know if she has interest in Davidson?  Trying to figure out how to see her before too long.
    - Women’s Volleyball

11. Claremont-McKenna College (CA)

*   Thank you again for the note. I will keep you informed on our progress....Maybe you could please ask her to give me a call.
     - Softball
*   Thanks for the message concerning Gloria. I spoke to her again this morning, and she has submitted her application, as well as her financial aid paperwork, so things are moving along. I appreciate your support.
     - Woman's Volleyball
*
Thanks for your assistance…Alex is back at Claremont and I am very pleased he is…Ryan is also a fine player and I have expressed my interest to him.  Juan was very high on Ryan. Any good words for CMC would be appreciated.
    - Baseball
*
Hey Tom, I wasn't able to attend the Stanford camp this summer, so unfortunately do not get a chance to see Linc play.  Best of luck with figuring things out with him...
    - Men’s Soccer
*    Charli will certainly want to know all her options, so it's good she's going back to Yale.  Enjoy your time back there.  Talk to you soon.
    - Women’s Tennis
*    Yes, I prefer mine…as I would not want to commit to a player in their sophomore year….too big of a guess at how good they will be in two years.
    - Women’s Soccer

T12. Wesleyan University (CT)
*   It would be great to get another CA kid on the roster. Thanks for the information and if you're in touch with Jonothan, please let him know that I am interested and will be sending him information soon.
     - Men's Soccer
*   I will stay in touch with Kevin and see him play in Los Angeles in late July. Thanks again for your recommendation.
     - Men's Basketball
*   I would like to have you send me some more info. on James. We are trying to supplement our recruiting depth, which as you know is a hard thing to do at a private, selective, liberal arts college.
     - Men's Track
*   How are you?  I've been trying to get in touch with Maddie and haven't been able to get a hold of her.  It would be nice to hear from her about what her decision is.  Please let me know what her status is.
      - Softball
*
Yes, it's not going to happen with Mo. I just talked to him - he told me he's going to go to Skidmore EDI. I can't thank you enough for your help through this process.  See you around!
    - Baseball
*    It's too bad about Colin, but my tight schedule at the time and the late notice seemed to doom it from here. Thanks for thinking of us!
    - Men’s Crew
*    I hope your doing well. I think his recent grades give him a chance with Wesleyan and ED 2.  We are very interested and I think he is a good athlete. I want to get his info over to admissions.
    - Men’s Lacrosse
*    I could certainly tell that Lillian is a strong goalkeeper with great technique and athletic ability. She could definitely play for me. She is one of three keepers I'm really interested in for next year and would give support to.
    - Women’s Soccer
*    Tom, I emailed Zoe this AM and told her I could meet with her on Friday.   I have also been in contact with Laura Rose.
    - Women’s Volleyball

T12. Vassar College (NY)
*   I have been watching Luke and Brett's films a lot the last 2 days. I don't think Brett can help us but I like Luke's game a lot. Unfortuntely, like we talked about before, it will be much harder for Luke to get into Vassar.
     - Men’s Basketball
*
Ok - thanks good to know.  We will contact his current coaches as well - problem with them is they tend to be on the biased side!!
     - Men's Soccer
*    I definitely like Ryan.  I think he could help us out right away.  I am going to get in touch with him, hopefully tomorrow night.  I'll give you a call tomorrow.
    - Baseball
*    Elizabeth is a nice talent for us. Right now, she would probably start in the middle of the lineup. I think she has good potential to develop if she has good coaching for 4 years. What schools is she seriously considering?
    - Women’s Tennis
*    The pleasure was all mine. Thank you for keeping us updated with Maggie. Happy Holidays and please stay in touch.
    - Women’s Soccer

T14. Washington and Lee University (VA)
*   Thanks for the heads up.  I will not be attending Nationals, as my recruiting budget has already been spent for the year.  (We tend to see more of the types of players we are after at regionals, although some of our kids do go to nationals as well).
     - Women's Volleyball
*   Thanks for the leads. I have already been in touch with Josh; he certainly sounds like the real deal. We will be out to The Nomads tournament at Thanksgiving; hopefully We will see these guys play. Thanks again for all your help.

*    tom---my asst saw sean  and he said he can play--for sure at D3 and maybe even D2--said solid arm and defense---hope that helps-

    - Men’s Lacrosse

    - Women’s Tennis

T16. U.S. Military Academy (NY)
*    Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and speaking truthfully.  Guess this is all part of what we do and after 17 years of doing this, I don’t get surprised by much anymore.  If you come across any guys that you think would be a fit, I would certainly appreciate your continued help.

     - Women's Basketball

*    I think that both players could be able to be impact guys early in their respective careers here on the hill.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help land both or either of these prospects for our fall class next year.  Thanks as always,
    - Baseball
*    Thanks. Tom. I would love to recruit some of your kids.  we'll follow up on Brett and Luke.     Thanks

    - Women’s Volleyball

T21. Bates College (ME)
*   Please send me more contact information on him so that I can get in direct contact with him.
     - Men's Track

     - Women's Basketball
*    Alex is doing great - I will be happy to help you.
    - Men’s Basketball
*     Alex told us he is going to play basketball/baseball at Bates.  He has told me that football is out.  The support tip is going to come from baseball and not basketball.  Tom thanks for your help.
    - Baseball
*    Thank you for your e-mail. I have been in close contact with Amanda and Stevie (who informed me, as you have listed, just verballed div I).      - Men's Soccer
*   It isn't too late at all, although we are fairly deep into the process. He should get a tape here ASAP and fill out a questionnaire on line. He can drop me an email also to convey his thoughts about Colby.

     - Men's Lacrosse

*   Thanks for the heads up about Milan.  I will contact him via the contact info you provided.

    - M. Basketball
*    Thank you for the e-mail.  Yes, I think being up-front in this crazy process of recruiting/college admissions is the best thing both parties can do...  After watching Charli play last weekend, I know for a fact that from a tennis stand-point she'd be a great fit for our school/team!
    - Women’s Tennis

     - Softball
*   tom thanks. this e-mail is terrific and will be helpful to me.  all the best
     - Men's Soccer
*    I really like Ian again.  Saw him earlier this summer but didn't know about his pitching.  I think he could do both pitch/outfield.  Also Will showed some promise. I definitely think he is worth following.  The rest are a pass at this time - more because of need than anything else but also I didn't think they measured up quite enough to continue recruiting.
